A teenager's memories of the lock-down : Part 03
Welcome back everyone! Hope you all are safe. Well, the monotony of life has already reached its zenith, and I don't expect the devil to come down soon.
Well, so today I am going to write about my memories of the 'Unlock' stage and I assure you, there will be something for you to laugh about somewhere in this post. Don't miss it.
You know, during the first phase of the lock-down, I was seriously worrying about the numbers. As the days passed by, I just became more and more ignorant about the numbers. What was the use? Nobody would give me a Nobel Prize for remembering numbers--all that was happening was that tension was finding its way out within me. Later, during the 'Unlock' phase, I simply stopped worrying about the numbers.
Let's not discuss those today. I have already written about them in my previous two posts. Let's discuss something new.
Now, here's one thought that came to my mind yesterday. What did Rousseau say? He said,
"Man is born free and is everywhere in chains."
Well, think about this. He said that men are bound in chains, mainly by fellow men. But, what's happening now? Can we not say that people are binding themselves in chains, because they are restricting their movements themselves? Yeah, you can argue that people bound themselves into chains earlier too, but surely it wasn't as demanding as it is today. You have to agree that before the French Revolution, the Bourbon Dynasty had bound the French people, and today we are doing it ourselves.
Well, there are certain things I am missing now, the most pressing deficit being not being able to chat with my friends, face-to-face. But, I tell you all once again, as I had already mentioned in my first post, that this is the time to 'Rejuvenate' yourselves, and 'Rethink', 'Remember' and 'Rediscover' your passions. What shall we call it? The Lock-Down 4R policy? Yeah, one thing that doesn't fall into this policy is that we can discover new passions too! Hey, wasn't this the driving force behind me being a blogger? Umm....no, we shan't call it by that name. It doesn't cover the entire thing. Let's call it The Lock-Down 4R&D policy! ( D for Discover!)
In my last post, I had talked about online classes, but not too much. So, today, I will write about my experience in details. This I can surely remember that my school's online classes began on the 1st of June. Yeah, study materials were being sent to us through WhatsApp and our school's online tool from the month of, I think April. But, there were no real-time classes. I do not at all like online classes, leave alone online real-time classes; if your online classes are not conducted properly, you can be assured that you are simply killing your time. Besides so many other disturbances caused due to poor network connection, I experienced another unique type of disturbance. Believe it or not, it is simply unique, so much so that I consider it to be a one-of-a-kind experience.
On the first day ( we are usually having three periods per day ), in our second period, the class was being conducted smoothly. But, that was no cause for cheer--disaster was yet to strike us. I don't want to go into unnecessary details. So, after a few minutes ( Ma'am was talking then ), Ma'am's audio suddenly stopped, and after a few nervy seconds, we saw her leave the meeting! God knows why! And then there came utter chaos, killing the silence, and declaring itself the majesty of the meeting. That was until Father came and warned us about serious consequences if this happened again. Then, we were asked to leave the meeting. A period totally wasted! In the next period, our hands were continuously being lowered ( Raise Hand is a button which you press if you want to attract the host ) and we were even being muted!
In the coming days, many naughty events took place, but worst of all, we were simply being turned out of the meeting, and we even could not know who did it!
Anyway, I have written a lot today. The numbers of my city, Durgapur, are simply rising. On Thursday, a rally of one fire brigade vehicle, a police car, and people carrying sanitising sprays even went past my house! I am really beginning to get afraid now!
Well, so that brings an end to the series on my memories of the lock-down. Hope you all enjoyed it. Do let me know how you felt.
So, goodbye for now, once again with the boring phrase-"Stay home, Stay safe!" God knows when this phrase will change!
